Audience Rough Cut Feedback

After we had done a rough cut of our opening, we showed it to a small audience who watched it and then responded to it. These responses included things like what they liked about it, what they disliked about it and what we should improve.

One of the things people liked about our opening was the location. We decided to film our opening in the woods. A wood is a secluded area and not many people would be in the woods. This would make the audience automatically recognise the setting as an isolated location and know that something bad is about to happen. Also, our audience liked the fact we used teenage actors rather than older actors.

Our audience didn’t like that our opening was set in daylight and would have found it more interesting if it were shot when it was dark. They commented as well about how our footage was shaky and in some scenes it was hard to see what was going on because of this issue.

One of our questions was “what should we improve to make our opening?” One person said that we should use filters to make our clip more attention-grabbing rather than being dull. The acting needs more believable. Another person added that we should use a better script. They stated that the script was ‘boring’ and it’s too typical and the audience would want to see something different.

We will take this into consideration and make sure our final cute meets up to our audiences’ expectations.
